Pair the app with your store
Gorilla Pulse connects the iPhone app to your own WooCommerce store. Your numbers come straight from your site — there’s no account to create.
- Install and activate the Gorilla Pulse plugin on your WordPress site (requires WooCommerce).
- In wp-admin, open WooCommerce → Gorilla Pulse and press Generate to create a pairing key. A QR code appears.
- Open your iPhone’s built-in Camera app and point it at the QR code. Tap the “Open in GorillaPulse” banner — the app opens already paired.
Manual pairing
No camera handy? In the app’s pairing screen enter your store URL (e.g. yourstore.com) and paste the pairing key from the same settings page, then tap Connect.
The 60-second check-in
Pulse
Today’s revenue, orders, and average order value with honest comparisons to yesterday and the same weekday last week, plus an hourly chart. Tap the pills to switch to 7 Days, 30 Days, or any custom range — range views compare against the equal-length period immediately before. Below the numbers: your top seller, products sold, and the most recent orders. Tap any order for the full detail — customer, items, payment method, and totals.
Source
Where the money actually comes from. The plugin’s first-party tracking follows each order back to its channel — tap a channel to drill into the exact sources and campaigns behind it. Enter your daily ad spend in the plugin settings and Source shows return alongside revenue.
Refreshing
The app refreshes automatically every time you reopen it, and any screen can be pulled down to refresh on demand.
Yesterday’s recap & Ask
The daily recap
Once per day, on your first open, Pulse writes a short plain-English recap of yesterday — what you made, how it compares, what drove it, and one suggestion for today. It’s generated once and stored; tap HISTORY on the card to read the last 7 days, or ✕ to tuck it away until tomorrow (a Show link brings it back).
Ask
Ask questions about your store in plain English — “what should I push this week?”, “is Meta actually working?” — and get answers built from your live data. Your plan includes 50 questions per month; the counter in the Ask header shows what’s left, and it resets on the 1st. Daily recaps don’t count against it.
Alerts that matter
| Alert | When it fires |
|---|---|
| Low stock | A product’s remaining stock will run out within ~4 days at its current sales pace. Requires WooCommerce stock management on the product (or its variations). |
| Big order | An order lands at or above your threshold (plugin settings → Big order alert; set it around 3–5× your average order value). Repeat customers get flagged — ambassador material. |
| Stuck orders | Pending or failed orders sitting 4–24 hours — usually payment trouble worth a look. |
Tap ✕ on any alert to delete it. If the underlying situation changes — stock drops further, more orders get stuck — it returns as a new alert. Sale push notifications can be switched on in the app’s Settings.
When something’s off
The 10-second health check
Open this address in any browser (swap in your domain):
https://yourstore.com/wp-json/gorilla-pulse/v1/ping/
Code-looking text (JSON) — even one mentioning a missing key — means the connection between app and store is healthy. A web page means something on your site is intercepting API requests, and the app can’t get data until it’s resolved. The plugin runs this same check itself and shows a warning banner on its settings page when it fails.
If the health check shows a web page
- Coming soon / maintenance mode is on. WooCommerce → Settings → Site visibility must be Live. Coming-soon and maintenance plugins count too.
- Permalinks are set to Plain. Settings → Permalinks → choose Post name → Save Changes (saving also rebuilds the routing table — do it even if it looks right).
- A security plugin or firewall is blocking the REST API. Allow REST requests, or whitelist the
gorilla-pulse/v1namespace. - A theme or plugin conflict. Check your hosting error log for lines mentioning
gorilla-pulse.
What the app’s messages mean
| Message | Meaning |
|---|---|
| “Your store didn’t respond in time…” | Slow connection or a busy site. Try again; if it persists, check your hosting. |
| “Your site answered, but not with Gorilla Pulse data…” | Something is intercepting API calls — run the health check above and walk the list. |
| “Your 3-day Pulse trial has ended…” | Activate a license in WooCommerce → Gorilla Pulse to keep going. |
| “No pairing key received…” | A CDN or security layer is stripping the app’s header — whitelist the X-Gorilla-Pulse-Key header. |
Pairing won’t complete
Confirm the store URL is exact (https, no typos), generate a fresh key and try again, and run the health check. Still stuck? Message us from the app’s Support screen — it works even unpaired via the pairing screen’s help link, or email hello@gorillapublic.com.
Trial, license, updates
The 3-day trial starts the moment the plugin is activated — stats, Source, and Alerts all work. Activating a Pulse Pro license unlocks the AI recap and Ask, and keeps everything running after day 3.
Pulse Pro is $9/month or $90/year from gorillapublic.com. Your license key arrives by email and in your account; paste it into WooCommerce → Gorilla Pulse → Activate and the dot turns green. One license covers your store with room for a staging site.
Updates appear in wp-admin’s Plugins page like any other plugin while your license is active — one click. The iPhone app updates through the App Store.
Leaving? Cancel any time from your account; the plugin keeps working until the period ends. Deactivating stops all tracking instantly, and deleting the plugin removes every trace of it from your database — your order history stays yours.
